Centenary Captain's Prize - Round 1

(31 Aug 2010)

The problem with the HandicapMaster system was resolved on Tuesday evening, and the results of Round 1 of the Captain's Prize were processed successfully. CSS confirmed as 69, and all handicap records have been updated and published to Golfnet.ie. All scores up to 75 net qualified with some on 76 also making the cut.  The news update below contains the top 50 scores from round 1 together with the handicap adjustments and twos. You play off the same handicap in round 2 as you played in round 1 but you play off the adjusted handicap for any other competition. A number of official substitutes have also been designated. The official time-sheet is on the board in the clubhouse bar. Second round tee time details are also up on the BRS booking system and individual times will be notified by e-mail in the normal way.

There has been a number of enquiries about changing times.  The committee has not acceded to any request, as it feels that those who may feature in the prizes should play in their allotted times and experience the traditional 18th-hole finish. If you are unable to play in round 2, it would greatly assist if you contact the Caddymasters immediately, as they have responsibility for any cancellations and substitutions.

To help ensure the smooth running of the competition next Saturday, all qualifiers are requested to arrive and check in at least 20 minutes before their designated tee-off times.

There was an error in the programme in relation to the Captain's Prize to Seniors:  there is no rounding of handicaps up or down for Round 2. You play off the normal 2/3 handicap allowance for a 12 hole competition.

We are running a six-hole competition next Saturday on the first six holes from approx 3.45 to 5.45 for those who did not qualify. You only need 3 clubs and it's a 'V Par' format with only wins counting i.e. a loss does not impact your score. (not my idea!)

Enjoy next weekend.
