MESSSAGE FROM THE CAPTAIN AND LADY CAPTAIN
Dear Juvenile members,
As a Juvenile member of Grange you have the potential of a superb golfing career in a very special Club with a top class course and with the support to enable you to be the best you can at this great game. Whether you play golf as your primary sport or as an additional recreation you have many years of fun and friendship ahead.
Golf is essentially a game of honour where you are the referee and where you will learn and apply the time honoured etiquette and traditions of this most noble of games. Grange has a proud tradition of producing both top class amateurs, Ryder Cup professionals and loads of golfers who just want to play purely for fun. The one thing they all have in common is that they started exactly as you have.
We have a very strong and committed juvenile committee with a comprehensive juvenile programme to support your growth and development. Included in this programme is professional coaching from Declan Leigh our Club Professional, both internal competitions and competitions against other clubs. Instruction on the rules and etiquette of the game are also an important part of this programme.
From this you will see that all the ingredients for your success, growth, development and most of all enjoyment of this great game are available to you. I urge you to participate fully and enthusiastically and give yourself the opportunity to be the best golfer you can be, and enjoy a lifetime of fun and friendship.
Looking forward to meeting you all during the season.
Rory O’Riordan,
Captain, 2008.
Dear Juvenile Members,
As Captain of the Ladies Club, I am very pleased to give my support and encouragement to the juvenile section in Grange.
Our club has a long tradition of facilitating and helping young girls and boys to take up the great game of golf at an early age and to develop their ability as they progress through life. Golf in itself is a wonderful sport and pastime which enables persons of all levels of ability to enjoy a game which can be played for many years. It also fosters great and lasting friendships which are so important in life.
The most important message I can give to the juveniles in Grange is to always try to maximise your potential and give it your best shot. You will certainly enjoy the challenge of competing. Remember that winning is a bonus which is also to be cherished as you never know how far away the next success might be. But every time you go out to play it is vitally important that the game must always be played in accordance with the rules of golf and also remembering the principles of fair play and proper etiquette are also an integral part of playing golf.
Rita Nealon,
Lady Captain, 2008
