Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Charity Day
2007 = €47,245 2008 = €55,000 +
Dear Members and Friends,
I am totally overwhelmed.. I felt we might just make €50k this year, because the Green Fees were raised by €50 per line and the timesheet was nearly full, thereby raising an extra €3k. I had no idea that Cash Sponsorship, the Auction proceeds, the Raffle and Cash Donations would all rise dramatically, giving a final total, which will be in excess of €55k.
My sincere thanks go to all the people who assisted in our success. To Tony O’Brien and Robert Buckley who continue to make substantial cash contributions. To two newcomers on the Sponsorship scene, Stan Mason and Kay O’Rourke, the latter of Country Kitchens/Black rock Kitchens, who would welcome your custom. To Ken Breen and Alan Smiley, who donated the prizes for the last time?
My other “thank you’s” go to Jim Henigan and Joe Long for collecting the Green fees. To Plunkett Walsh for organising the Raffle. To John Kilmurray and John Kelly for helping at the Auction. To Tom Tuite for checking the cards and publishing the result. To Kay Vince for selling a colossal number of raffle tickets. To Kay, Anne Delaney and Pauline Dwan for somehow keeping track of all the spending and spenders at the Auction. To John Kennedy and Eugene Clinton, and the Artisans for their continuing support. A special word of thanks to Eugene Kelly, who, on the day, prepared the Auction items, Printed the catalogue and was generally of great assistance. To Billy Meehan, Mary and especially Sandra who worked so hard in the preceding and following weeks. To Darren and his staff for their courtesy and efficiency. To Martin and his staff for a super BBQ meal. To Shane and Dave for keeping the golf virtually on time. To Hugh Millar, who is like a vintage wine that gets better every year. This year’s auction raised nearly €24k and somehow he was able to make people smile as he took their money. Thanks Hugh, for great entertainment and a wonderfully successful evening.
Finally, the biggest thank you of all, is to you, the people who make if all possible. Whether purchasing a raffle ticket, giving or buying an auction item, playing golf or donating cash, it all adds up to a tremendously generous achievement.
I am proud to note that since I started organising this event in 1991, you have contributed some €527,000.
Many thanks,
